Bha Bha Ba Review: Overview

Bha Bha Ba is a loud, chaotic, nostalgic, and unapologetically theatrical. Directed by Dhananjay Shankar, the movie has Dileep alongside Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, and Sandy, with a special extended cameo by Mohanlal. The tagline of the movie promises “Pure madness”. Hence, it sticks to that idea to its benefit and sometimes to its detriment.

First Half: Energy High, Logic Low

The first half set the tone clearly, as it is fast, noisy, and packed with references to old Malayalam movies and pop culture. However, Dileep is in complete control here, as his timing, body language, and screen presence remind you why he was once considered one of the crowd pullers in Mollywood.

As I mentioned above, the writing feels overloaded in some sequences. Moreover, the humour does not always land. In addition, some scenes feel repetitive. The film leans heavily on no-logic madness, which might work for some viewers but can feel exhausting for others.  Personally, I found parts of the first half entertaining and borderline cringeworthy in places.

On the other hand, the interval block is a clear highlight. The fight sequence combined with a DJ-style mashup, works brilliantly in a theatre setting. This is where Bha Bha Ba truly feels like a mass entertainer meant to be enjoyed with a crowd.

Second Half: Patchy, But Saved by Star Power

The second half of Bha Bha Ba is where the movie becomes inconsistent. Here, the narrative loses grip, jokes become hit-or-miss, and the chaos starts to feel forced rather than organic. However, the final 15 minutes significantly improve the overall experience.

The extended cameo of Mohanlal is indeed one of the biggest talking points of the movie. However, his entry feels somewhat forced in the storyline. However, his screen presence alone lifts the film. Plus, his aura is a much-needed balance to the madness. Plus, those sequences are easily among the most enjoyable moments of the second half.

Dileep continues to perform well throughout the movie, as he gives one of his more energetic performances in recent years. Moreover, you will appreciate seeing him back in full entertainer mode, even if the script looks uneven.

Performances and Technical Aspects

As we said earlier, Dileep carries the film on his shoulder. Moreover, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan decently supported him. Plus, Sandy adds to the chaos-driven narrative.

Technically, the film is competently made due to good background music and effective use of sound during mass moments, especially in the interval and climax portions. However, the climax feels weak and rushed. Plus, the film seems unsure whether to end in madness or emotion. As a result, it does not leave a long-lasting impact.

Final Verdict: One-Time Watch, Best in Theatres

Bha Bha Ba Review is not a flawless comeback vehicle. However, it is not a disaster either.  Hence, it works best as a one-time watch in a packed theatre where the energy, nostalgia, and star moments can be fully enjoyed. This film is enjoyable if you enjoy loud entertainers, old movie references, and don’t mind compromised logic.
