- Strict attendance limits

- Max 5 unexcused absences per term
- Max 15 per academic year
- Risk of repeating the year if exceeded
- Fridays and holidays-adjacent absences may count as two days

It is not a January change, as the MoE is planning to introduce it. The UAE is shifting the KG and Grade 1 admissions age cut-off to the 31st of December of the admission year (instead of 31st of August 31 for many schools).
