Dubai Police Viral Skull Breaking Warning: Dubai Police have issued a strong warning to parents, teenagers and schools across the UAE over the growing spread of harmful social media trends, including the viral “skull breaking” challenge. The authorities say it can lead to serious injuries or even death.
What Is the ‘Skull Breaking’ Challenge?

The viral Skull Breaker Challenge typically involves two people kicking or pulling the legs out from under a third person, causing them to fall backwards and hit their head.
According to Dubai Police and education authorities, this is just one of several harmful trends currently circulating online. Other reported challenges include:
- Choking games
- Breath-holding challenges
- Applying pressure to the neck or head
- Forceful physical stunts disguised as jokes
Authorities stress that these activities are not pranks and can result in head trauma, brain injury, loss of consciousness or fatal outcomes.

Dubai Police Issue Strong Advisory
In a video message shared on Friday, Dubai Police said these viral challenges pose a serious threat to lives, especially young people.
The force said, “These difficulties often attract teenagers finding excitement or online attention, without fully understanding the serious consequences.”
Dubai Police also noted that similar trends in other countries have already resulted in critical injuries and fatalities, underscoring the urgency of early intervention. Residents are urged to report any harmful or inappropriate behaviours by the following channels:
- Calling the Dubai Police Contact Centre at 901

Schools and KHDA Step In

Apart from Dubai Police, Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Dubai’s education regulator, has also issued an advisory to parents of children enrolled in private schools, alerting about the rise of such challenges within school communities.
Schools are addressing the issues directly. Yet, the KHDA alerted the following:
- Students found participating in, encouraging, or recording such behaviour may face disciplinary action
- Serious cases could be referred to external authorities
Parents have been advised to contact their child’s school or seek medical help if they have immediate concerns about their child’s physical or emotional well-being.

What Parents and Guardians Can Do
The authorities are urging families to take an active role in protecting children from online harm threats. Below are the key steps that they should follow:
- Speak openly with children about the dangers of viral challenges
- Explain how restricting breathing or hitting the head can cause life-threatening injuries
- Reinforce that these acts are not games or jokes
- Stay alert to changes in behaviour or online activity
- Help teens resist peer pressure and the desire for online popularity
It is essential to note that such incidents can become popular on the internet, but parents or guardians should be alert to prevent their children from harmful stunts.
Final Words
Dubai Police and education authorities continue to urge the community to stay vigilant, reminding families that online trends can have very real and irreversible consequences. Therefore, parents should take care of their child.
