Navigating the Summer Travel Rush

Etihad Airways is preparing for a very busy summer at the Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. On Thursday, the airline said that it is anticipated that more than seven million passengers will travel between now and the end of the summer season. 

Shaeb Alnuaimi (Director of Etihad at the airport operation) mentioned that we are looking forward to hosting millions of passengers at the Zayed International Airport as they head off towards the summer vacation. Moreover, they could include those flying to our seasonal locations like Malaga, Antalya, Santorini, Nice, and Mykonos. 

The airline also shared that the season comes after a period of conflict in the region due to the recent escalation of attacks between Iran and Israel. Moreover, it causes a huge number of flight delays and cancellations for travel in the UAE. 

However, the condition is now stabilizing because the ceasefire agreement between both nations has come into effect.  Therefore, Etihad declared that it is ready to welcome more than 7 million guests this season. Moreover, the airline is expecting to serve 30000 guests daily from the Dubai International Airport this week alone, due to summer vacation. 

Etihad Airways Shares Essential Travel Tips for Summer Flyers

The airline has shared the key recommendations for passengers flying to Abu Dhabi to handle the increased volume of passengers. Here are the essential suggestions that you should follow:

  • Stay informed: You are advised to check the “Manage My Booking” section on the official website or mobile app. Here, you will get the details about the booking status, seat details, etc. 
  •  Early check-in: The airline strongly suggests reaching at the Zayed International Airport a minimum of four hours before the scheduled departure time, especially during the peak hours. 

Convenient Check-In Options Offered by Etihad Airways within the summer travel advisory

As mentioned before, you are required to check in 4 hours before the departure time. The Etihad Airport is also offering other check-in options besides check-in at the airport.  So, see the convenient check-in options below:

  • Online check-in: It will be available 30 hours before the departure via the website or the mobile app. Here, you can also use the self-service bag drop at the terminal. 
  • Off-airport: Many check-in and bag drop facilities are available at this location: Mussafah (10 am to 10 pm), Al Ain  and  The Fountains – YAS Mall (10 am to 10 pm), Mussafah (10 am to 10 pm). 
  • Home check-in: The MORAFIQ Services lets you check in from your home till 5 hours before the departure time. Moreover, it will include a boarding pass delivery and baggage handling at the starting price of Dh 185. 
  • Land and leave: This option will give you the convenience of direct travel to the destination. However, baggage must be delivered before three hours of departure. You can make a booking for this service through the MORAFIQ app or website. 

Baggage rules and notice for the US passengers

Passengers who are travelling in the business and first class are allowed to carry up to 12 kg of baggage. However, passengers who are transiting in the economy class can only carry up to 7 Kg. Moreover, you can purchase the baggage clearance allowance in advance through the app or website at a discounted rate. 

If you are travelling to the United States, you must you must check in before 4 hours of departure at Terminal A. Furthermore, this notice is included in the summer travel advisory for US preclearance facilities, depending on your class of travel.
