The United Arab Emirates (UAE) experienced a fresh wave of moderate to heavy rainfall today, i.e, 21st of July 2025, because grey clouds with gusty winds took over significant parts of the country. Moreover, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather alert by confirming that the rain has affected many areas, like Dubai, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra.
Rainfall Hits Multiple Emirates
As we told you before, the NCM recorded light to heavy rain over Margham, Al Qudra, Saih Al Salam, and Al Lisaili in Dubai. Moreover, residents in Al Faqa, Um Al Zumoul, and Khatm Al in the Al Ain region have experienced downpours.
On the other hand, Al Dhafra region in Abu Dhabi has seen broader rainfall activity. In addition, this activity was especially developed in Umm Ghaffa region. This brings a temporary relief from the scorching heat of the summer season in the area.
The Storm Centre also shared clips of motorists driving on the wet roads that highlight how the weather caught many people by surprise.
Temperature Extremes Recorded
Despite the rain, the heat continues to develop its presence. The highest temperature recorded today reached 49.8 °C in Saih Al Salam. In addition, it proves that the summer season still dominates. On the other hand, Al Farfar in Fujairah experiences the lowest temperature at 26.5 °C. Therefore, it provides residents with some relief in the eastern part of the UAE.
Orange and Yellow Alerts Issued
The NCM has also issued orange and yellow alerts across many parts of the nation, including Al Ain and Al Dhafra, due to today’s intense weather conditions. These alerts are related to the development of convective clouds, which are prone to bring rain, strong wind, and possible mist in the affected region. Therefore, residents are advised to stay alert in these conditions, especially during outdoor activities.
The NCM stated in an advisory that precautions should be taken during the strong convective cloud activity linked with rainfall and strong descending winds. Loose objects and weak structure could become hazardous because of the strong winds and can decrease horizontal visibility.
This is a reminder for the public living in the affected region to avoid flood-prone zones and areas with accumulated water.
What to Expect Next? – Weather Alert
The humidity is expected to increase tonight and continue into tomorrow, i.e, 22 July 2025. This would happen in the coastal and internal regions of the country. Moreover, this weather condition could raise the probability of the formation of mist.
The NCM has issued that light to moderate winds are expected to take place throughout the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In addition, the speed of the winds could reach up to 40km per hour. Below is the forecast related to the temperature in the UAE.
- Dubai will range from 33°C to 40°C
- Abu Dhabi is forecasted to see temperatures between 30°C and 48°C
- Sharjah will experience a high of 42°C and a low of 32°C
Precautionary Measures for Residents
Although the fluctuation in the UAE weather has provided residents and citizens with a temporary relief. Still, it has posed some risk that could be severe for the residents of the affected region.
