The UAE weather has experienced an unexpected turn because the eastern and southern areas of the country have saws surprising rainfall this afternoon. Notably, heavy rainfall occurred in Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Fujairah, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra.
Therefore, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) urgently issued an orange and yellow alert for convective cloud formation linked to the rain. It advises residents to stay alert and exercise caution.
A video shared by the Sharjah news captured heavy rainfall in Khor Fakkan. So, it represents a rare wet weather during the UAE’s peak summer months.
Official UAE Weather Alerts and Forecasts from NCM
The NCM has forecasted that the formation of the convective cloud and rainfall will persist until 8:30 PM. Moreover, it is expected that the speed of the wind could reach 40 km per hour, which could stir dust and reduce visibility in open areas during the daytime.
Despite the rain, the highest temperature across the UAE could be extremely high. Forecasts predict that it could be between 40°C and 47°C. On the other hand, the lowest temperature recorded today was 27.1°C in Jais Mountain, Ras Al Khaimah.
Government Weather Warnings and Safety Advice
The NCM is requesting residents, especially motorists, to drive safely in the affected regions. Wet roads, poor visibility, and strong winds could pose safety risks, particularly in mountainous and coastal areas where rainfall or winds are intense. We recommend outdoor workers and drivers to stay updated via the Official NCM app and the social media channels for live weather alerts and advisories.
Public Safety Comes First
Authorities have highlighted that these alerts are only precautionary measures to protect lives and property during unstable weather conditions. Moreover, parents should also stop their children from going outside during strong winds and heavy rainfall.
Public awareness and preparedness have turned into an increasingly important element because climate change could lead to more unpredictable weather patterns. Today’s development is a reminder of the importance of monitoring the official forecast, even in the dry season.
