The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has revealed the “Harakat Sikka” program, which could be a groundbreaking initiative under the Sikka platform. Moreover, the program is all set to bring up the emerging talent in stop-motion animation and visual storytelling. In addition, it shows the ongoing mission of the authority to position Dubai as the hub for global creative and cultural industries.
World-Class Mentorship with Boubaker Boukhari
Boubaker Boukhari, who is an acclaimed director-artist, is set to lead the Harakat Sikka program to offer an immersive and hands-on learning experience. The detailed course will run from August 18 to September 26, 2025, at House 436 in the Al Shindagha Historical Neighbourhood.
Boukhari is popular for his innovative storytelling skills. In this program, he will mentor just 10 selected participants in every stage of the animation process, like concept development, character design, storyboarding, editing, and distribution.
Harakat Sikka is Backed by Dubai Culture’s Sikka Platform
This initiative empowers the goals of the Dubai Culture for sustainable talent development. Therefore, it is open to UAE nationals and residents aged 18 or above, including students, artists, filmmakers, designers, and writers, regardless of prior experience. Remember, the workshop will be conducted in Arabic and English to ensure wider accessibility. In addition, the move is a part of the broader Sikka platform.
As a participant, you will attend three sessions weekly to benefit from the training in character design, visual arts, and audio recording. It will help you create original short films that show your identities and creative voices. Moreover, your work will be publicly screened during the Sikka Art & Design Festival. So, it will give an important exposure to the emerging talent.
Transparent Selection & Open Access
If you are interested in joining this initiative, you must apply before August 8, 2025. However, you must apply with a brief written response to your response in animation. Moreover, you can also submit your resume or CV if available.
Remember, the selection process will be based on the shown passion and storytelling intent. Therefore, it ensures the program only supports the motivated creators who are willing to participate.
Great opportunity
The Harakat Sikka is a great opportunity for young storytellers and aspiring animators throughout the UAE. Moreover, it will provide you with professional mentorship and a public platform to show your art. In addition, it boosts innovation and cultural expression in the country.
