Dubai Police reconnected an incarcerated woman with her four children after a lengthy separation due to her imprisonment and family issues. However, the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions, in cooperation with the Community Development Authority in Dubai, has arranged this special meeting as a part of the “Inmate Happiness” initiative.
The program is launched by Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Lt. Gen. Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri. In addition, Maj. Gen. Eid Muhammad Thani, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, is reviewing this program. However, the initiative aims to ease the emotional strain on inmates and empower family ties during incarceration.
Dubai Police Identify the Need for Support
Colonel Jamila Al Zaabi, Director of the Women’s Prison, has explained that the prison administration had noticed the inmate isolating herself from others. After speaking to her, they discovered she had not seen children in years and longed to reunite with them.
The Women’s Prison administration collaborated with the Community Development Authority to arrange the surprise meeting. So, it ensures it would bring happiness and emotional relief.
Tears and Gratitude During the Reunion
The inmate was informed she had visitors on the day of the visit. As expected, she became frozen at the sight of her children as she entered the meeting area. So, she rushed to embrace them, and tears flowed from mother and children in a deeply touching moment due to overcome of the overwhelming moment.
Later, the mother gave her heartfelt thanks to the Police. So, she said that she had always dreamed of such reunions. Moreover, her children also thanked her for making the meeting possible.

Colonel Al Zaabi confirmed that the “inmate happiness” is an initiative that shows the broader strategic vision of the Dubai Police of promoting compassion, tolerance, and happiness within the community. Moreover, such campaigns motivate the inmates and boost trust between society and the police.
