The highly awaited action thriller “War 2”, starring Jr. NTR and Hrithik Roshan, is seeing a remarkable surge in advance booking just a few days before its grand release on August 14, 2025. The Ayan Mukherji-directed sequel is a part of the Yash Raj Film (YRF) Spy Universe. In addition, the action thriller will hit the theatres in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
YRF opened the advance booking for India on Sunday, August 10. Initially, ticket sales were steady at around 2500 per hour on Tuesday. However, the scenario changed dramatically after the Telugu state shows went live later that evening.
Surprisingly, the sales boosted to 25,000 tickets per hour, which is a 10 percent surge in demand. Moreover, the screenshots of the massive increase soon went viral on social media.
Delayed Start in Telugu States Pays Off
Pre-sales in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were initially planned for August 11. However, they were delayed due to pending government orders regarding the ticket price hikes. Despite this, War 2 noted a sharp boost that also gave a positive push to the Hindi belt, especially in North India.
Before Telugu bookings open, War 2 had also secured around ₹10 crores gross (with block seats) for its Hindi version’s opening day. However, it is a decent figure but slightly below trade expectations. After the Telugu release driving momentum, BookMyShow reported over 20,000 tickets sold per hour for the first time since sales began.
War 2 vs Coolie: The Big Clash
The movie faces tough competition from Rajinikanth’s gangster action drama Coolie, which is dominating the advance booking race. Coolie has already touched an estimated ₹75 crore gross worldwide on its opening day. However, the film has secured ₹30 crores from India, with a day still left before release.
About War 2
A direct sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War. Therefore, Hrithik Roshan will reprise his role as super spy Kabir. However, Jr. NTR is set to join the franchise in an important role. Moreover, Kiara Advani, Ashutosh Rana, and Anil Kapoor will join this movie as a supporting cast.
Produced by Aditya Chopra, it is the sixth installment in the YRF Spy Universe, which includes blockbusters like Pathaan and Tiger. Therefore, it is set for one of the biggest box office openings of the year due to its multi-language release and surging ticket sales.
