UAE Air Connectivity Soars as Passenger Traffic Hits 75.4 Million in H1 2025

The aviation sector of the UAE is strengthening its position as a global leader, as the airport of nation welcomed 75.4 million in the first half of 2025. According to the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), it is a 5 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Therefore, the UAE air connectivity is soaring with immense growth. 

Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the GCAA,  highlighted the commitment of the nation to expand the air commitment to expand air connectivity through flexible regulations, ambitious open skies policies, and world-class infrastructure.

Abdulla said, “This practice has significantly boosted the UAE’s competitiveness in the global aviation industry. Now, the sector is a key driver of economic growth, tourism, trade, investment, and job creation. “

Record Growth Across Passenger, Cargo, and Flight Movements

The data from the GCAA shows a robust increase across all aviation indicators mentioned below:

  • Passenger Traffic: Up from 71.7 million in H1 2024 to 75.4 million in H1 2025.
  • Air Traffic Movements: 531,000 flights, marking a 6.2% rise.
  • Air Cargo Volumes: Surged 4.74% to over 2.2 million tonnes.

January emerges as the busiest month because of peak holiday returns and New Year’s travel plans.

UAE Air Connectivity expands global reach

Airlines in the UAE have included 15 new destinations across the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Below is the list of key cities for this development:

  • Russia, Czech Republic, Poland, Armenia, Kazakhstan
  • Vietnam, Cambodia, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, Croatia, Ethiopia

Riyadh, Jeddah, Kuwait, Mumbai, and Bahrain are some of the most in-demand routes. Therefore, it highlights the strategic role of the UAE in the regional travel. 

Infrastructure for the Future

Ongoing development projects aim to meet the growing demand and maintain the world-class aviation standards. Therefore, the total airport capacity is set to exceed 160 million passengers.
