Dhanashree Verma on Parents’ Reaction and Emotional Strain
Speaking to Humans of Bombay, Dhanashree shared how her parents supported her during the divorce despite facing questions from her relatives. Moreover, she admitted that the initial phase was confusing for all of them, but they drew strength from each other.
She revealed, “There were times when my mother would give up and feel sad. I had to tell them not to answer the call because the pressure from society was overwhelming. My parents keep telling me that I have taken a courageous step, and that gives me strength.”
During the discussion, she recalled breaking down in court when the verdict was about to be given. So, she said, “Even though I was mentally ready, I started howling and crying in front of everyone. It was an emotionally heavy moment”.

Yuzvendra Chahal Mental Health Battles After Divorce
On the other side, Yuzvendra Chahal also spoke about his struggles on the Raj Shamani Podcast a few weeks ago. During the interaction, he revealed that he battled anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts during the separation.
He shared, “I was wrongly called a cheater, but I have never cheated some in my life. I cried for hours, barely slept, and thought of leaving cricket for 40 days.” The leg-spinner said that professional commitments and lack of time had contributed to the distance in their marriage.
He also addressed the viral moment when he appeared in court wearing a T-shirt with the text, “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy”. He revealed that it was his own way to send a message without creating drama.
Relationship Timeline
In 2020, Chahal and Dhanashree crossed paths during the COVID-19 lockdown through virtual dance lessons. However, they tied the knot in December 2020, but they filed for a divorce by mutual consent in February 2025. Later, the Mumbai court officially granted their divorce in March 2025.
As of now, both of them are engaged in their profession. While Yuzvendra is focusing on his cricket career, Dhanashree is also moving forward in her choreography career.
