Popular Turkish chef and internet sensation CZN Burak (Ozdemir Burak) has officially cut his ties with his Dubai-based restaurant on Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard. He earned global fame with his oversized Turkish and Middle Eastern dishes and ever-present smile. However, he cited unpaid dues, contract breaches, and reputational harm as reasons behind his decision.
Burak said, “This relationship has become economically, legally, and morally unstable from my perspective” on social media. Hence, his statement comes after a video posted earlier this week to his 52 million Instagram followers, where he confirmed that has no longer has any business or legal ties with any business in Dubai.
Allegations Against Dives Holding
Dives Holding is managing the Dubai Outlet, which is also operating ten restaurants across nine nations in the world. However, Burak puts the following allegations against the company:
- Late and incomplete payments
- Persistent breaches of contract despite notifications
- Mismanagement of the brand, leading to reputational damage
He highlighted that the management of the company has compromised his name and credibility.
Dives Holding Responds to CZN Burak
Dives Holding issued the statement in response to assert that it is the sole and exclusive right holder of the CZN Burak Brand outside Turkey. Moreover, the company has highlighted its role in the rapid global expansion of the brand due to its investment and strategic management.
As per the company, the team of Dives Holding is directing and managing all operational processes, like menu development, marketing strategies, and international expansion. Furthermore, the group confirmed that all of their outlets are still open, with new openings planned.
A Brand Beyond Business
Burak has earned worldwide recognition for his humanitarian efforts, including feeding earthquake survivors in Turkey in 2023. Moreover, he has insisted his identity is inseparable from the brand. So, he wrote, “I am not as claimed the face of this brand, I am the brand,” to reject any attempt to reduce a mere ambassador.
Since opening in 2021, CZN Burak’s Dubai restaurant has attracted many famous celebrities, including Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The dispute is a significant turning point for the international venture of Burak. Therefore, his fans are waiting for the clarity of his restaurants around the world. Till now, the future of Burak’s restaurants in the world is unclear.
