Dubai is preparing itself to host the Dubai World Congress and Challenge for Self-Driving Transport on September 24-25, 2025. However, it will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. In addition, the event highlights the global leadership of Dubai in shaping the future of autonomous mobility and smart transport solutions.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is organizing this fourth edition, which will run under the theme of “Redefining Mobility … The Path to Autonomy”. Hence, it shows the commitment of Dubai to create a sustainable transport ecosystem to achieve its goal of transforming 25% of trips into self-driving journeys by 2030.
A Global Innovation Platform
The Dubai World Congress and Challenge for Self-Driving Transport is expected to attract more than 3,000 participants from across the globe. Moreover, more than 80 speakers are going to lead over 45 sessions. Hence, it could address the most recent developments in artificial intelligence, urban mobility, and smart infrastructure.
On top of that, an exhibition will feature 50 international companies to showcase the cutting-edge innovations. Moreover, leading names, like Baidu Apollo International, Uber, Pony.ai, and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), will showcase the real-world applications, like self-driving vehicles planned for Dubai 2026.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of RTA, described the event as the defining event. He said, “Hosting the Congress and the Challenges empowers the position of Dubai as the global hub for smart mobility and supports our vision of a sustainable and connected city.”
The Challenge: Global Competition

The Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport is one of the highlights. Moreover, the theme of this year -” Dubai Autonomous Transport Zone,” has attracted applications 170% above expectations.
Five finalists are WeRide / Deutsche Bahn (China & Germany), BrightDrive / AlpLab consortium (Europe & UAE), and Zelos Technology (Singapore & China). Moreover, they will present integrated urban transport models. However, winners will be announced on the opening day.

Influential speakers such as HE Saeed Al Tayer (DEWA), Sol Rashidi (world’s first Chief AI Officer), and Dr. Steven Shladover (UC Berkeley) will be part of this congress. Hence, their insights will shape discussions on the global future of self-driving transport.
