Residents near the site described the moment when the fire erupted.  Mira, a Filipino expat living in Al Barsha 1, told Khaleej Times, “I was eating lunch when I heard many fire trucks rushing in. When I stepped outside, I saw the upper floor of the building on fire”.

The blaze occurred at the Saleh bin Lahej building,  which is located only a few metres from the parking lot of Mall of the Emirates and adjacent to The B1 Mall.

Fire Incidents in Al Barsha Over the Past Year

This is not the first time fire has broken out in Al Barsha region. We have mentioned these such incidents below:

  • May 2025: A major fire broke out at the 13-storey Al Zarooni Building on Halim Street after a gas leak at a restaurant triggered an explosion. The entire building remains closed, with some residents relocated to nearby accommodations.
  • December 2024: Residents of an eight-storey building recalled knocking on neighbours’ doors to warn them after a fire broke out, as fire alarms reportedly failed to sound. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
  • October 2024: Another apartment block was evacuated in the early hours of the morning following a blaze.

Safety Measures and Ongoing Investigations

Dubai authorities have repeated their commitment to fire safety protocols and instant response in the residential and commercial zones. Moreover, civil defense officials highlighted that their evacuation process and containment purposes continue to ensure public safety in densely populated districts like Al Barsha.

Residents are advised to stay alert. In addition, it would also be best to check the fire safety systems regularly. Moreover, you should promptly report any hazards to the officials. However, this incident has highlighted the risk of high-density districts and the efficiency of the emergency service of Dubai.
