Abu Dhabi Police Launch “Be Cautious” Campaign to Combat Rising Financial Scams

Abu Dhabi Police have issued a strong warning to residents about the growing number of financial scams targeting people through fake phone calls and counterfeit investment offers. Moreover, the police requested the public to stay alert and avoid falling prey to these deceptive tactics.

According to the statement, scammers are constantly changing their methods using emotional manipulation, urgency, and promises of easy money to trap unsuspecting victims. Moreover, the Abu Dhabi police stated in a post, “Every day, scammers invent new ways to prey on their victims.”  However, the statement highlighted the importance of verifying all suspicious messages and calls before taking any actions.

Common Scam Tactics Highlighted by Abu Dhabi Police

The most recent warning from the Abu Dhabi Police highlighted many fraudulent schemes in the  United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, the following are the lists of those warnings:

  • Fake bank messages and links: Fraudsters send text messages pretending to be from legitimate banks. These messages often include malicious links that steal personal or banking information once clicked.
  • Phone calls requesting money transfers: Scammers impersonate officials or financial representatives and pressure victims to send money urgently.
  • Fraudulent investment ads: Online ads promising unrealistic returns on investments are another growing concern, often leading to heavy financial losses.
  • Deceptive gold sales and chalet rentals: Victims are attracted by unusually low prices for gold or vacation rentals, only to discover that the offers were fake and their money is gone.

Police warned, “These are all different faces of fraud with one goal – stealing your money”.
