Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts Opens as Sheikh Mansour Ushers in New Era of Cultural Excellence

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, officially inaugurated the Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts (ADREA) on Jubail Island in a historic cultural milestone. However, the ADREA is the first academy outside Europe dedicated to the classical art of horsemanship. 

A Historic Showcase Uniting East and West

The opening ceremony featured a landmark performance bringing together the five most prestigious schools of classical horsemanship for the 1st time. In addition, the following is the list of those countries:

  • Austria
  • Spain
  • Portugal
  • France
  • United Arab Emirates

This exceptional presentation symbolised centuries of equestrian heritage to bridge cultures and celebrate the shared legacy of humans and horses. Hence, it proudly reaffirms the deep historical connection of the Arab World to classical horsemanship.

During his tour, Sheikh Mansour explored many world-class facilities at the ADREA. Hence, it shows the dedication of the UAE to craftsmanship, art and academic excellence. Below are the key highlights of Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts:

Furussiya Gallery

  • It has more than 173 rare equestrian artefacts and artworks
  • It has 2,000 years of history
  • You will find one of the world’s largest curated equestrian collections

UAE’s First Saddle-Making Atelier

  • It combines traditional artistry with modern craftsmanship
  • It is created to preserve and elevate saddle-making skills in the region

Equestrian Library

Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts
  • It has 14,000 rare books and manuscripts
  • First of its kind in the region and among the largest globally
  • It is a dedicated hub for academic research, scholars, and cultural studies

The academy also has forty horses to represents the foundation and the spirit of the ADREA. 

A Vision Rooted in Emirati Heritage

While speaking at the ceremony,  Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Empowerment and ADREA Vice Chair, emphasised the cultural significance. 

She said, “The project highlighted the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the leadership commitment of the UAE to preserve the cultural and human heritage of the nation. Horsemanship is deeply connected to our national identity.”

On top of that, she highlighted that the institution merges heritage, creativity, education, and knowledge. Hence, it revives horsemanship as a refined and respected art form. 

Positioning Abu Dhabi as a Global Capital of Culture

The ADREA is spread across 65,000 square metres amid scenic mangroves of Jubail Island. In addition, it blends culture elegance with the educational purpose. So, it stand out as the 5th global academic for classical horsemanship and the first outside the Europe. Hence, it reinforces the reputation of Abu Dhabi as a global epicentre for culture, history, and creative excellence.
