The Philippines Super Typhoon Uwan continued to batter many provinces across Luzon on Sunday, as it prompt widespread evacuations and disaster preparedness measures because authorities raised many storm alerts and warnings.
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of La Union, at least 403 families or 1,283 individuals were preemptively evacuated from San Fernando City and the towns of Bauang, Agoo, Santol, Bangar, and Pugo. Moreover, the entire province was placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4. In addition, coastal areas were put on red storm surge warning. However, waves are expected to reach over three metres high.

The local government also declared a red alert status in the region. Moreover, emergency teams and rescue assets, like ambulances, rubber boats, and jet skis, are prepositioned for immediate deployment. In addition, it ensures the critical infrastructure and affected families receive immediate support.
Governor Mario Eduardo Ortega urged residents to stay vigilant, follow official advisories, and move to safer areas when needed. He said, “We ask everyone, especially those in low-lying and landslide-prone areas, to stay alert and closely monitor updates from PAGASA.”
Laguna Intensifies Relief Efforts as Flooding Worsens

More residents have also been forced to flee their homes in nearby Laguna province. Moreover, Governor Sol Aragones led on-ground relief operations and assured citizens that adequate assistance is available for evacuees.
According to a report from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) CALABARZON, around 6,188 people or 1,475 families have preemptively evacuated due to the typhoon’s impact as of 7 am on the 9th of November 2025.
Aragones said in a live Facebook broadcast, “We are going to continue monitoring the situation and ensure that every family affected by the storm has access to food and shelter. Our 24/7 action centre is open for urgent concerns”.
Government Agencies on Full Alert
The La Union and Laguna provincial governments have mobilised coordination with barangays, local police, and social welfare offices to ensure smooth communication and fast-tracked assistance. Moreover, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Offices have confirmed that family food packs and emergency supplies are ready for immediate distribution.
Similarly, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) continues to monitor Super Typhoon Uwan’s track closely. In addition, the agency has warned of widespread heavy rainfall, flash floods, and possible landslides in parts of Northern and Central Luzon.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has also issued an advisory to urge residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in coastal and mountainous regions.
Regional Impact and International Concern
The Philippines’ Super Typhoon Uwan has attracted international attention. Hence, the neighbouring Asian countries, including the UAE-based Filipino community, are closely monitoring the development. Moreover, many overseas Filipinos have expressed concern for their families back home as the storm continues to move across Luzon.
Philippine consulates and community groups are encouraging coordination with local government hotlines and official news channels for verified updates and donation drives once relief operations expand for Filipinos abroad, especially those in the UAE.
