The campaign invites the UAE community to collectively cover 54 million kilometres, which is a symbolic distance between the Earth and Mars. Hence, it represents the 54th Year in the formation of the nation.  Moreover, the initiative motivates people of all ages and fitness levels to engage in walking, running, swimming, cycling, or any physical activity that contributes to the shared national goal under the inspiring theme of “Every Step Makes a Difference,”

This movement supports the fitness and well-being of the UAE residents. In addition, it also highlights the spirit of the UAE of collective determination and futuristic vision. Moreover, the ultimate goal is to achieve the aim by the start of the Abu Dhabi 2026 Open Masters Games. Hence, it reinforces the commitment of the country to a healthy and active society.

Leaders Emphasise Progress, Unity, and Wellbeing

Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, Minister of Education,  praised the symbolic connection of the initiative between ambition and achievement.

She said, “Walk to Mars embodies the spirit of continual progress that defines the UAE. Just as our passion for science led us to explore space and reach Mars, this movement unites us towards a goal that shows willpower and collective passion. Every step is not just distance – It is an investment in our health and future.” Her statement perfectly aligns with the long-standing goals of the UAE to innovation, exploration, and human development.

On the other hand, Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said, “This first-of-its-kind national movement shows the spirit of collective ambition that defines our nation. It goes beyond fitness, as it is about unity, pride, and progress. Together, we can show the world what it means to dream big and achieve as one community”.
