Dubai Airshow from 17 Nov 2025, Set for Major, New Aviation Tech Displays, Strategic Jet Orders

The Dubai Airshow 2025 will open on November 17, 2025, at Dubai World Central (DWC). However, it is set to be one of the biggest aviation events in the world.  Moreover, the airlines are preparing to place new orders to meet surging travel demand. However, experts believe the overall deal volume to be more moderate than in previous years due to supply chain bottlenecks, certification delays, and massive order backlogs.

Aviation expert Richard Maslen (Capa Centre for Aviation) said that airlines are facing a paradox of record travel demand and delivery delays. However, he believes carriers will take a pragmatic approach to securing production slots that extend into the 2030s, but avoid placing overly large orders.

Why Fewer Mega-Deals Are Expected

The aviation industry continues to struggle with engine issues, aircraft groundings, and a seven-year delay to Boeing’s flagship 777-9. Moreover, many airlines, including those in the Middle East, have already placed huge orders at the previous airshows. However, many of those jets are yet to be delivered.

UK-based analyst John Strickland states that airlines might confirm options rather than sign big deals. Moreover, OAG’s John Grant adds that the event is unlikely to be historic, with most order books full.

In contrast, analysts highlight Emirates as a wildcard because it could reshape the aviation narrative if it chooses to cancel part of its 777-9 order and switch to the Airbus A350-1000 based on the  Rolls-Royce engine durability improvements.

Leasing Companies Take Center Stage

Airlines are depending more on aircraft lessors due to supply chain issues. Moreover, Maslen calls the Dubai Airshow 2025 a prime moment for leasing companies, as carriers look for short-term solutions to meet rising travel demand.

What to Expect Dubai Airshow 2025: Flying Displays & Global Debuts

The 2025 edition will feature 1,500+ exhibitors, 200+ aircraft, and 450+ speakers. Below is the list of the key attractions:

  • Boeing 777X: Returns to the flying display for the first time since 2022.
  • COMAC C919: Makes its first Middle East flying appearance.
  • Joby S4 eVTOL: Marking a significant milestone for electric air taxis, with real-time flight demos.
  • Russian Su-57 Felon: Rare global appearance with internal weapons display expected.
  • UAE’s Al Fursan: Debuts new Hongdu JL-10 jets.

The show coincides with the 40th anniversary of Emirates. Hence, it raises expectations for a spectacular opening display.

Sustainability & Future Tech: eVTOLs Lead the Charge

Electric air taxis will be a major theme in 2025. Moreover, Joby, Archer, and multiple UAE partners are getting ready for the commercial eVTOL operations in 2026. Hence, it promises faster and greener urban travel. The show also has its Space Pavilion, which reflects the rising space ambitions of the Middle East, including the UAE’s Mars mission and Oman’s planned commercial spaceport.

Regional Stability Boosts Aviation

The show also arrives just after a fragile ceasefire ended the Gaza conflict. Hence. Experts predict a surge in tourism, pilgrimage travel, and business aviation. So, it could accelerate the industry recovery.

The following is the data related to the Airlines & OEMs during January and October 2025:

  • Boeing booked 836 gross orders
  • Airbus logged 722 gross orders

Boeing aims to use Dubai as its back on stage moment. However, Airbus faces challenges from engine issues, as they affect A220 and A321XLR customers. In contrast, COMAC of China seeks to challenge the long-standing duopoly with its C919 and rumoured C909 appearance at the show.

Key Takeaways

The Dubai Airshow 2025 might not deliver record-breaking mega orders. However, it will showcase a transformative aviation landscape due to strategic buying, next-gen aircraft, electric air taxis, advanced defence systems, and a renewed competitive push among global manufacturers.

The edition of this year is set to shape the aviation trends for years to come. Moreover, the show will conclude with a gala dinner and a grand ceremony at the Dubai World Central.
