Abu Dhabi Launches First Nvidia AI Technology Centre in Middle East, Focusing on Robotics

Engineers are now training robots not just to command but to follow reason, adapt, and make human-like decisions inside a state-of-the-art lab in Abu Dhabi. Moreover, the joint Technology Innovation Institute (TII)-NVIDIA facility is now the first Nvidia AI Technology Centre in the Middle East. Hence, it places the United Arab Emirates (UAE) among the global AI leaders like Silicon Valley and Shenzhen.

A Global Milestone in AI and Robotics

According to Dr. Hakim Hacid, Chief Researcher at TII’s AI Research Center, the lab is unique because it explores advanced AI and robotics separately and focuses on their integration. Moreover, engineers are testing cutting-edge applications, like robotic arms in manufacturing and four-legged robots for desert inspections. Hence, it combines TII’s Falcon large language models with Nvidia’s Thor chip to perform this task.

Dr. Hacid said,  “This is the fusion of Nvidia’s computing platforms with the sovereign AI models of TII. We are developing robots that can perceive, reason, and perform in complicated real-world settings.“

Transforming Key Industries

The research of the Abu Dhabi Lab could transform logistics, healthcare, smart cities, and environmental monitoring. However, the following are the details related to this transformation:

  • Warehouses: Robots capable of managing operations independently and accepting shifting priorities.
  • Hospitals: AI-powered assistants that support patient care and recognize when human intervention is necessary.
  • Smart Cities: Autonomous systems that can enhance safety, efficiency, and real-time decision-making.

These breakthroughs are expected to deliver deployment-ready technologies that can scale safely across industries.

Talent Development and Regional Advantage

Beyond robotics, this campaign highlights the development of young talent in the UAE. Moreover, young people will get hands-on experience with the international experts. So, it could reduce dependency on the imported technology.

Dr. Hacid said, “This lab gives an exceptional opportunity for the young talents, preparing the next generation of innovators and leaders.”

The integration of Arabic-language capabilities through Falcon models is the key differentiator. Unlike generic international systems, these AI models provide contextual understanding for the Middle Eastern environment.

Nvidia AI Technology Centre: Strengthening UAE’s Global Position

This partnership positions Abu Dhabi as a competitor and collaborator in the AI race that the US and China are already dominating. Dr Hacid said, “We are creating the next generation of intelligent systems that can reshape productivity and performance at scale.”  Hence, the Emirate is firmly strengthening its global leadership in AI and robotics.
