Abu Dhabi Mobility Announces Partial Sweidan Road (E20) Closure on August 9–10, 2025

The Abu Dhabi Mobility (AD Mobility)  has announced a partial closure of Sweiden Road (E20) this weekend. However, this could affect motorists who are traveling towards the capital. Notably, the closure will occur on Saturday, August 9, and Sunday, August 10, 2025. However, it is important to note that different lanes will be restricted on each day.

According to the official statement that AD posted on social media:

  • The closure of two left lanes and the ramp towards Abu Dhabi is scheduled from 12:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 9.
  • The closure of the right lane and the ramp towards Abu Dhabi is scheduled from 12:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 10.

The temporary closure of these routes is a part of ongoing road improvement, which is aimed at boosting traffic flow and road safety along the E20 Corridor.

Motorists Urged to Plan Ahead for Sweidan Road

Authorities have urged all motorists who are using these routes to plan their journey in advance and consider the alternative routes to avoid congestion during the closure hours. Moreover, those who are travelling during the peak hours might experience delays because of the lane restriction, especially on ramps leading to Abu Dhabi.

You can use navigation apps like Google Maps to get assistance because they are expected to provide you with updates on live traffic conditions and real-time alternative routes. Moreover, motorists like you are encouraged to check these updates before setting out.

Commitment to Road Safety and Mobility

AD Mobility repeats its commitment to deliver safer and more convenient transport infrastructure for residents and visitors. Moreover, Sweidan Road (E20)  is an important link for commuters who are travelling between Abu Dhabi.

Therefore, such scheduled works are essential for long-term road safety and smooth traffic management. Motorists should follow the posted speed limits near the construction zones. In addition, they should stay alert for road signs and be patient when merging due to lane reduction.

Key Advice for Drivers

  1. Travel earlier than usual to avoid the busiest times.
  2. Use alternative routes if possible during closure hours.
  3. Stay updated on traffic alerts from AD Mobility’s official channels.

Authorities aim to reduce inconvenience and ensure important infrastructure updates are completed efficiently because of the coordinated planning and adherence to safety measures. In addition, you should visit the official portal of the AD Mobility or follow them on social media for more updates on road closures and traffic advisories in Abu Dhabi.
