In a heartbreaking update for film lovers, the legendary Malayalam actor, screenwriter, and director Sreenivasan passed away today at the age of 69. He breathed his last at the Tripunithura Taluk Hospital. For a long time, he had been battling various health issues and was undergoing treatment.
According to reports, Sreenivasan left his home this morning for his regular dialysis. However, his health condition worsened by the time he reached Tripunithura. His wife, Vimala, was with him during his final moments. His departure marks the end of a golden era in Malayalam cinema that lasted for over 48 years.

Born on April 4, 1956, in Patyam near Thalassery, Sreenivasan completed his schooling at Kathirur Govt School. Later, he studied at Pazhassi Raja NSS College. His passion for acting led him to the Film Chamber Institute in Madras, where he earned a diploma in cinema acting.
He is survived by his wife, Vimala, and his two sons, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan. Both his sons have carried forward his legacy and are well-known figures in the Malayalam film industry today.

The loss of Sreenivasan is an irreparable void for the cultural landscape of Kerala. He was the man who gave us characters like “Dasabalan” and “Vijayan” (alongside Mohanlal), which defined friendship and struggle for a whole generation.
