Popular Indian TV and Marathi film actress Priya Marathe has passed away at the age of 38. She was battling cancer for more than 2 years. However, she took her last breath at her residence in Mira Road, Mumbai, on Sunday morning. She was a household name due to her role as Varsha in the TV hit series Pavitra Rishta.
According to the reports from the Maharashtra Times, Priya had been undergoing cancer treatment, but her health kept down. Despite the medical care, she could not recover and passed away around 4 am today. Her husband, actor Shantanu Moghe, was left behind by Priya, who tied the knot in 2012. However, the couple also worked together in the Marathi historical drama – Swarajyarakshak Sambhaji.
Priya Marathe’s Career Journey
Priya was born on April 23, 1987 Mumbai. However, she began her career with the Marathi TV Show“ Ya Sukhano Ya”. Later, she went on to feature in many acclaimed shows like Char Divas Sasuche and Tu Tithe Me. However, her first Hindi TV appearance was in Kasam Se as Vidya Baii. Afterward, she played numerous memorable roles in shows such as Uttaran, Savdhaan India, and Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap.
Priya’s biggest breakthrough comes with Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilm “Pavitra Rishta”, where she portrays the role of Varsha (sister of Ankita Lonkhande’s character Archana). The role helped her earn her nationwide recognition and established her as a familiar face in Indian households. Later, she also appeared in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain as Jyoti Malhotra. Moreover, she also demonstrates her versatility in Comedy Circus.
On top of that, she joined the cast of Saath Nibhana Saathiya as Bhavani Rathod, which expands her TV repertoire. However, the Marathi show Tuzech Mi Geet Gaat Aahe was her last series that ended in 2024.

Priya distanced herself from the limelight after leaving the show in 2023 due to health concerns. Fans also noticed her sudden disappearance from social media. However, her last post dated 11 August 2024, where she shared photos from a trip to Jaipur with her husband.
