Dubai RTA Tightens AI-Powered Monitoring of Taxis and Luxury Transport

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued a strong warning to taxi and luxury transport operators across Dubai, as it is conducting AI-Powered monitoring of taxis and luxury transport. Hence, the authority is requesting them to strictly follow safety and operational regulations.

However, this comes as the RTA’s Smart Monitoring Centre, powered by artificial intelligence, intensifies the real-time surveillance across the city to ensure passenger safety and compliance with transport laws.

The AI-enabled system recorded over 428,000 monitoring cases from January to July 2025. Hence, it flags 29,886 violations ranging from speeding and not wearing seat belts to drivers using mobile phones while on duty.

According to Saeed Al Balooshi, Director of Passenger Transport Activities Monitoring at RTA’s Public Transport Agency,  the advanced network of the authority ensures that every movement is being tracked in real-time.

Moreover, he highlighted that violations are automatically detected and penalties are imposed instantly, which leaves no room for negligence or delay. Al Balooshi stated,  “Compliance is not optional: it is essential for passenger safety and the reputation of the city.”It reaffirms the commitment of the RTA to road safety and operational excellence.

Moreover, the  RTA’s Smart Monitoring Centre operate round the clock to keep a vigilant eye on taxis, luxury vehicles, e-hailing services, and dedicated bus lanes. Plus, the use of AI technology allows for continuous assessment of driver behaviour. Hence, it ensures that the transport standard is consistent and efficient.

The AI-powered monitoring system identifies violence and analyses extensive datasets to detect patterns, repeat offenders, and root causes of unsafe driving behaviour. Moreover,  this data-driven approach allows the RTA to coordinate with the relevant departments to enhance enforcement strategies and curb repeated violations.

Officials also revealed plans to expand the capabilities of the system. Hence, it allows it to detect extra types of violations automatically. However, the goal is to make the roads of Dubai safer and more efficient while maintaining the emirate’s reputation as a leader in smart mobility innovation.

Fines, Penalties, and Broader Safety Goals

The Dubai RTA has reaffirmed that strict monitoring and automated fines are going to continue as a part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen public trust. Hence, it aligns with the broader vision of the UAE for smart governance, sustainability, and urban safety.

The real-time surveillance of the authority aims to promote discipline, transparency, and safety within the passenger transport ecosystem of Dubai. Taxi and luxury transport operators are being urged to regularly train their drivers, adhere to safety standards, and adopt digital monitoring tools to ensure compliance.

It is important to note that this initiative of the RTA comes amid a growing reliance on technology to optimise transportation systems. AI, big data, and automation are now central to Dubai’s mobility strategy. Hence, these elements are turning every vehicle into a data source for safer and smarter roads.

AI-Powered Monitoring of Taxis and Luxury Transport: Enhancing Trust and Safety in Dubai’s Transport Network

The RTA is supporting its dedication to passenger welfare and service quality with AI-powered monitoring of Taxis and Luxury Transport. By using innovation and automation, the authority is setting a global benchmark for smart urban transport management.

The message is clear: Safety and compliance are non-negotiable. Operators who fail to meet RTA standards risk heavy fines and the suspension of their operating licenses. Hence, Dubai continues to position itself as a world leader in intelligent mobility, where technology and human responsibility come together to create a safer, more reliable public transport experience.
