16th Al Ain Book Festival 2025 to Celebrate Literature, Poetry, and Creativity

The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC)  has officially announced the 16th edition of the Al Ain Book Festival. Moreover, the festival will take place from November 24 to 30, 2025, at Al Ain Square – Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.

Plus, it will be held under the patronage of Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Ain Region. Therefore, it will showcase a rich program of literary, artistic, and cultural events celebrating Arabic heritage, poetry, and creativity.

Besides the main venue, activities will also be conducted across many cultural landmarks in Al Ain, including Qasr Al Muwaiji and various educational institutions. Hence, it makes the event a city-wide celebration of reading and knowledge.

Expanding Horizons: Record Growth in Exhibitors

 Al Ain Book Festival

The 2025 edition is a big milestone because of a 10 per cent increase in exhibitors. Therefore, the festival is set to bring 220 participants. However, 18 per cent of those are newcomers. Hence, this growth highlighted the growing importance of the event in the regional publishing and its ongoing mission to reinforce the Al Ain region as a premier culture and literary hub.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, expressed pride in the expanding influence of the festival. He said, “As the premier cultural and literary event in the Al Ain region, the Al Ain Book Festival plays an important role in supporting the publishing industry and growing local and regional talent. Besides the industry, it continues to inspire a culture of reading and bring communities together through the power of creativity and knowledge”.

Strengthening Cultural Bonds and Inspiring Reading Habits

Dr Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre,  highlighted the growing role of the festival as a permanent platform for cultural exchange and literary engagement.

He said, “Our partnership with the publishing houses and cultural institutions shows our dedication to enriching intellectual content and encouraging future generations to read and explore diverse itinerary perspectives.”

The festival continues to support Emirati authors, grow young writers, and advance the publishing industry. However, it offers a platform for creative expression and community engagement. In addition, its programmes are created to celebrate the cultural heritage of Al Ain. Plus, it upholds Emirati values and makes reading a lifestyle choice for families and individuals.

Preserving Heritage Through Poetry and Art

Besides literature and publishing, the book festival puts special emphasis on Emirati poetry and oral traditions. The  Poetry Nights: The Sung Word series will once again take centre stage to celebrate authentic folk poetry that bridges generations and reinforces cultural identity.

These creative sessions aim to mix heritage with modernity to ensure that the Arabic language remains a vibrant and growing medium of cultural expression in the global landscape.

Kanz Al Jeel Award Ceremony to Honour Cultural Excellence

The ALC will host the Kanz Al Jeel Award ceremony at Qasr Al Muwaiji to continue a cherished tradition. Established in 2021, this prestigious award celebrates the art of folk poetry and its role in shaping community identity.

Awards will be presented in six categories, including Poetry Matching, Arts, Studies and Research, Poetic Publications, Translation, and Creative Personality. In addition, it recognise excellence in every facet of poetic and literary expression.
