Burj Khalifa to Light Up in Tricolour for 79th Indian Independence Day Celebrations in UAE

Burj Khalifa, also known as the world’s tallest building, is all set to illuminate in the vibrant hues of the Indian flag on Friday, August 15. Thus, it marks the 79th Indian Independence Day celebrations in UAE. According to the Indian Consulate in Dubai, the ceremonial display is going to take place at 7:50 pm, which will delight thousands of Indian tourists and visitors.

The symbolic gesture has turned into an annual ritual to celebrate India’s independence from British rule in 1947. Additionally, other iconic landmarks in the UAE are planning to illuminate themselves in saffron, white, and green. In addition, a senior UAE leader traditionally shares a congratulatory message with the Indian community on this occasion.

Early Flag Hoisting Ceremonies on the 79th Indian Independence Day Celebrations in UAE

The Indian Consulate in Dubai has advanced its flag hoisting to 6:30 am due to the scorching summer heat. However, the gates will be open at 6 am, which is earlier than in previous years. Moreover, the Indian Embassy has also shifted its program to 7:15 am in Abu Dhabi.

  • Dubai: Ceremony led by Consul General Satish Kumar Sivan
  • Abu Dhabi: Flag hoisted by Ambassador Sanjay Sudhir

These programs will be conducted after the colorful cultural performance. Moreover, the program in Abu Dhabi will feature a tribal art exhibition and a display on India’s counter-terrorism efforts, which will showcase the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

Community Initiatives & ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign

The Indian expats have already started celebrating with the mega blood camp in Dubai. Notably, the consulate, in partnership with FOI Events, is organizing this event, which has attracted 270 donors.

It is also promoting the “Har Ghar Tiranga” (Tricolour flag at every house) campaign. So, it is requesting residents to display the national flag between August 2 to 15 and share selfies with it online.

The consulate and Glendale School are hosting the “Amrit Kaal 2025” exhibition to engage the youth. So, you can see the Indian national flag’s history with cultural performances and competitions at this event.

Chess, Culture & Special Discounts

Sharjah will arrange a Blitz Chess Tournament on this occasion. Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, the Indian Business and Professional Council, and the Indian Consulate will also support this event.

Community groups, businesses, and Indian associations are also organizing the flag hoisting, cultural shows, etc, in the UAE. Moreover, the airline is also offering special fares between the UAE and India. In addition, companies are offering Independence Day offers on Indian products and cuisines.
