Motorists were greeted with dense fog in Abu Dhabi early Thursday morning. Therefore, it forced the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) and Abu Dhabi Police to issue the safety alert. Moreover, authorities have reduced the speed limits because visibility has dropped significantly in many areas.
Dense fog in Abu Dhabi and Impacted Areas
The NCM issues the red and orange alerts across parts of Abu Dhabi until 8:30 am due to low visibility. However, Arjan, Madinat Zayed (Al Dhafra region), Sweihan, and several other locations saw the thick fog this morning. Moreover, the Met Office highlighted that drivers must be cautious, especially during the peak travel hours.
Abu Dhabi police reminded motorists through a safety advisory posted on social media, “During the period of fog, the maximum speed on Abu Dhabi roads is decreased to 80 km/hr, and drivers are requested to follow this limit for their own safety and that of other road users on the same road.”
However, the speed limit is back to normal now because the fog has decreased.
Weather Forecast for the Day
Apart from the fog, partly cloudy skies are forecasted for today, particularly over the eastern regions. However, the NCM also shared that there is a potential for convective cloud formation, which could result in brief rainfall.
Those with dust allergies must take precautions throughout the day because light to moderate winds are expected to stir up dust and sand.
Temperature and Humidity Levels
When it comes to temperature, the lowest temperature recorded in the country was 22.7°C in Al Heben Mountain (Fujairah) at 02:00 UAE Local time. However, it was forecasted to be between 27°C and 31°C. So, it offers a temporary relief from the heat in the nation.
In contrast, the maximum temperature in the UAE is forecast to peak between 37°C and 44°C. However, coastal areas could see highs near 44°C and lows around 31°C. Similarly, mountainous areas may experience slightly cooler conditions, ranging from 28°C to 37°C.
On the other hand, humidity levels could be higher, ranging from 70% to 90% in coastal areas and 55%-75% in mountainous areas. Moreover, similar humidity might increase again through tonight and Friday morning, particularly over internal and coastal regions.
Marine Conditions
