The Dubai Fountain is one of the most iconic landmarks in Dubai. Now, it is set to reopen on 1 October 2025 following its most extensive renovation since debuting in 2009. After five months of closure, you can once again enjoy the largest choreographed fountain in the world. Moreover, now, it will be upgraded with the cutting-edge technology, fresh choreography, and enhanced visuals.
Dubai Fountain: A Global Attraction Since 2009

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum unveils the Dubai Fountain on the 8th of May 2008. Since its launch, the fountain has instantly become the heartbeat of Dubai Downtown. However, it is stretched 275 metres across the Burj Khalifa Lake with the size of 18 football fields. Moreover, it was created by WET Design, which is the creator of Las Vegas’ Bellagio Fountains.
It treated the spectators with free nightly shows through the blend of music, light, and soaring water jets reaching 150 metres high from day one. In addition, it has been a backdrop of New Year’s Eve celebrations, cultural showcases, and countless tourist experiences. Furthermore, the Dubai Fountain secured the crown of the largest performing fountain in the world after the closure of Palm Fountains in 2023.
Five-Month Renovation for the Future
The fountain went silent on April 19, 2025, as Emaar Properties launched a detailed renovation program. Moreover, the upgrades are focused on the waterproofing, sound, lighting, and choreography enhancements to deliver a more immersive experience. We have listed the key details of upgrades below:
- A new flooring system with durable treated concrete, insulation layers, and glowing blue tiles beneath the water.
- Advanced robotic systems for precision in choreography, enhancing water and light movements.
- Enhanced optics and sound systems for more dramatic, world-class performances.
During each show, the fountain now throws 22000 gallons of water up to 140 meters with more than 6,600 lights and 25 colour projectors. Hence, it could create a multi-sensory spectacle that will be visible from over 20 miles away.
Reopening in October 2025
Emaar has confirmed that the official reopening is going to take place in October 2025 after much speculation on social media. Once operational, the show will run every 30 minutes from 6 pm to 11 pm daily. Moreover, you can enjoy it from the Dubai Mall promenade, Souk Al Bahar bridge, or up close via the Abra Lake ride and Dubai Fountain Boardwalk.
