Dubai Hosts Grand Celebration for Chinese National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival

Recently, Dubai saw a spectacular cultural evening as the Chinese community celebrated Chinese National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival, known as the Mooncake festival. Moreover, the event showcased a vibrant mixture of heritage, art, and diplomacy. In addition, it highlights the stronger relationship between the UAE and China.

The evening was filled with breathtaking performances, like acrobats soaring through hoops, contortionists forming towers, and dancers mastering the art of foot juggling. However, these acts highlighted the century-old tradition of China. Moreover, it brought audiences close to the spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is a 3,000-year-old celebration created for family reunions, gratitude, and moon worship.

The festival is one of the most important events of China, where families gather to enjoy the mooncakes and give thanks for togetherness. Moreover, it is also celebrated in other nations, like Singapore and Malaysia.

Strengthening UAE-China Relations

Key officials, like Abdulla Al Qaseer, Deputy Director at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and several consulate representatives from Dubai and the Northern Emirates, attended the event.

During the ceremony, Ou Boqian, the Consul General of China in Dubai,  also revealed a new direct flight from Dubai to Ürümqi from September 26, i.e, tomorrow. However, it is a significant city in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

Apart from the introduction of a new flight, she also highlighted the growing relationship between the UAE and China. Hence, she reveals that the bilateral trade reached $50.6 billion in the first half of 2025, up 1% from last year.

Moreover, the direct investment of China also surged 42.66% by reaching $11.22 billion in the Arab world. Hence, it is a clear sign of growing economic cooperation as both nations celebrate 41 years of diplomatic ties.

Ancient Arts and Handicrafts

Beyond performances, guests had the chance to explore the traditional Chinese art and craft. Moreover, Cindy Zou, artist, dancer, and founder of an art center, showcases the traditional craft of stone rubbing, which was once used for marriage certificates and official documents.

Moreover, she also shared the art of incense-making, where herbs are turned into beads, necklaces, or sachets that symbolize good fortune. However, these sachets often served as tokens of love, with women gifting them to express romantic interest in ‌ancient times.

Chinese National Day: A Celebration of Heritage and Friendship

This festive evening honored the rich cultural heritage of China, but also became a symbol of the growing friendship between the UAE and China. Moreover, it reaffirmed shared values of cooperation, respect, and unity between the two nations.
