Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has intensified its efforts to keep the public transport running smoothly by bringing strict rules for bus lanes and bus zones. Notably, these are the dedicated areas for buses, taxis, and emergency vehicles only. Now, you can face the hefty fines for violating these rules.
Fines for Parking in Bus Zones
The RTA has requested motorists and drivers to avoid parking their vehicles in areas reserved for public buses. However, blocking such areas can disrupt services and delay passengers. Therefore, a fine of Dh200 has been imposed on those who disrupt these regions.
Fines for Using Bus-Only Lanes
Several roads in Dubai have clearly marked ‘bus only’ lanes and are painted with a red strip with a marking of “only buses”. Remember, these lanes are constantly monitored by radar to catch the violators.
Private vehicles caught using these lanes are going to face a Dh 600 fine. As we mentioned before, the lanes are only for the following vehicles:
- Public buses
- Taxis
- Emergency vehicles (police, civil defence, ambulances)
The goal behind this rule is to cut the travel time for public transport users and motivate residents to use buses and taxis instead of private cars.
