Dubai Ruler Approves Major Mina Al Hamriya Port Expansion to Lead Global Trade

The ruler of Dubai has taken a strategic move to boost the position of the emirate in global commerce. Notably,  His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the new expansion project at Mina Al Hamriya port, which is an important trade hub for the region. This visionary development is a significant step towards converting Dubai into the most dynamic trade and logistics hub in the world.

What’s New: 700-Metre Quay to Accommodate Larger Vessels at the Mina Al Hamriya Port

As per the newly approved expansion,  you will see the construction of a 700-metre quay with a 12-metre draft in the port. It will allow the port to board large vessels. Moreover, this expansion is going to boost its cargo-handling capacity and trade efficiency. The development comes after the 2024 expansion in which  1,150 metres of quay wall were added with nearly doubling the port’s storage capacity to 6.4 million sq ft.

During the latest visit, Sheikh Mohammed said, “We are transforming our ports into dynamic gateways that not only connect the globe and boost the flow of goods. In addition, it also attracts innovation and opportunity.

Strategic Role in Food Security and Regional Trade

Mina Al Hamriya Port is more than a logistics hub because it plays an important role in the food security strategy of the UAE. In addition, the port boosts the movement of biodegradable and livestock across the Arabian Gulf. Moreover,  it is expected to manage more than 1 million head of cattle this year.

This is not an end. The port also continues to serve the market in the neighbouring Gulf nation. Therefore, it is becoming a reliable gateway for the import of fruits, vegetables, and other essential commodities.

 Surging Trade Performance in 2025
