Eid Al-Adha 2025: Saudi Arabia Confirms Date—June 6

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — In a highly awaited announcement, Saudi Arabia has confirmed that Eid al-Adha 2025 will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, following the sighting of the crescent moon on Tuesday, May 27. The Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah begins on Wednesday, May 28, with Arafat Day falling on Thursday, June 5.

What is Eid al-Adha?

Eid al-Adha, also known as the “Feast of Sacrifice,” is one of the most significant Islamic festivals, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) unwavering devotion and willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command. This festival coincides with the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, a central pillar of Islam. During Eid al-Adha, Muslims around the world engage in special prayers, perform the ritual of animal sacrifice (Qurbani), and distribute the meat among family, friends, and those in need. The occasion is also marked by communal gatherings, festive meals, and acts of charity.

UAE and GCC Countries to Observe Eid on June 6

The UAE and other GCC countries such as Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman typically align with Saudi Arabia’s lunar calendar. In the UAE, this means a public holiday from June 5 (Arafat Day), with most residents enjoying a long weekend for Eid celebrations.

Eid 2025: A Shared Celebration Across the Muslim World

With synchronized celebrations across the Muslim world, Eid al-Adha fosters unity, gratitude, and spiritual reflection. Families in the UAE and beyond are already preparing for communal prayers, charitable giving, and festive meals.

“Eid Mubarak! As we commemorate Eid al-Adha 2025, may unity, compassion, and faith light the way for all.”
