Emirates Airlines has announced that the use of power banks will be prohibited on all its flights from tomorrow, i.e, the 1st of October 2025. However, the rule applies across the entire fleet of the airline as part of the updated safety measures to reduce risks connected to lithium battery-powered devices.
The airline confirmed that passengers are still allowed to carry only one power bank under strict conditions. However, they will not be allowed to use it to charge devices during the flight. Moreover, charging power banks using the power outlets of the aircraft will also be banned.

- Only one power bank under 100 Watt Hours (Wh) is permitted per passenger.

- Each device must be clearly labeled with its capacity rating.
- Power banks must be stored under the seat or in the seat pocket—not in overhead bins.
- Power banks are strictly prohibited in checked baggage.
Besides these guidelines, Emirates highlighted that all its aircraft are already equipped with in-seat charging for passengers. However, passengers like you are encouraged to fully charge devices before boarding, especially on long-haul flights.

The decisions come after the detailed review amid rising incidents involving lithium batteries across the aviation industry. Notably, power banks often come with lithium-ion or lithium-polymer cells, which can become hazardous if damaged, poorly manufactured, or overcharged.
