Emirates is all set to transform in-flight connectivity with the launch of Ultra-fast Starlink Wifi. Moreover, it will offer passengers ground-level internet speeds at 35,000 feet. In addition, the airline has confirmed that the rollout will begin with its Boeing 777 aircraft in November 2025. However, the entire in-service fleet is expected to be upgraded by mid-2027.
This landmark move strengthens the position of the Emirates as a leader in in-flight innovation and boosts the digital experience for millions of passengers flying to and from the UAE.
First Emirates Flight With Starlink Takes Off on 23 November

The first aircraft to feature the Starlink connectivity is the Boeing 777-300ER (A6-EPF). However, it is currently being showcased at the Dubai Airshow 2025. Hence, visitors have a high opportunity to test the high-speed Wi-Fi on the ground before its official commercial debut.
After the Airshow, the aircraft will operate the first commercial passenger flight equipped with Starlink. Hence, it will mark the start of the accelerated retrofit programme of the airline company.
Fleet-Wide Rollout and A380 Upgrade Timeline
The company plans to retrofit around 14 aircraft per month. Thus, it makes this aircraft one of the most rapid connectivity upgrades in commercial upgrades. Below is the list of the key milestones:
- November 2025: Boeing 777 rollout begins
- February 2026: Airbus A380 installations start
- Mid-2027: Full in-service fleet equipped with Starlink
Each Boeing 777 are going to carry two Starlink antennae. However, the Airbus A380 will be filled with 3 antennae to maximise bandwidth, coverage and network stability. Hence, it will be an industry first. This configuration ensures smooth connectivity for every cabin, from Economy to First Class.
Free Wi-Fi for All Passengers—With One-Click Access

The airline confirmed that Starlink Wi-Fi will be completely free across all cabins in a major upgrade to passenger experience. Moreover, the new system removes all restrictions mentioned below:
- No payment required
- No Skywards account needed
- One-click access
Passengers are going to be able to stream HD videos, join video calls, play online games, work remotely, browse social media, and even use Starlink on seatback screens. Moreover, Live TV via Starlink will initially launch on personal devices. However, it will expand to seatback displays by late December 2025.
Emirates President: “A Defining Moment for Fly Better”
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, described the Starlink partnership as a milestone in the mission of the airline to boost passenger experience. Moreover, Clerk said, “We are introducing the fastest Wi-Fi for the customer to ensure that our customers fly better. Starlink will enable seamless productivity, real-time communication, and uninterrupted digital experiences.”
Clerk also added that this upgrade is a part of the wider refurbishment programme of the Emirates. Below is the list of those programs:
- New Premium Economy cabins
- Enhanced Business Class layouts
- Refreshed First Class suites
- Upgraded ice entertainment systems
Starlink: Transforming the Future of In-Flight Connectivity
Chad Gibbs, VP of Starlink Business Operations at SpaceX, said, “With Starlink onboard Emirates flights, you will be able to stream, game, and make video calls just as you do on the ground.” Moreover, SpaceX is working closely with the airline to support its rapid retrofit schedule without compromising service stability or speed.
Part of Emirates’ Massive Fleet Modernisation
The Starlink integration complements the extensive onboard offerings of the airline, including the A380 Onboard Lounge, First Class Shower Spa, and a library of 6,500+ entertainment channels. Moreover, 76 aircraft have already been refurbished under the 320-aircraft retrofit programme. Hence, it makes the Emirates the largest known fleet upgrade in the industry.
