Is Avatar 4 Confirmed?

Yes, Disney and 20th Century Studios have officially confirmed the fourth movie of the franchise. However, James Cameron has publicly stated that its full-scale production depends on the box office performance of Fire and Ash. This alert approach shows the commitment of Cameron to quality over speed, even for a billion-dollar franchise.
That said, some parts of this movie have already been filmed. Moreover, Cameron revealed that the first act was shot earlier to capture the younger cast before the six-year jump in the story. Hence, this made the upcoming movie more advanced in production than we expected.
Avatar 4 Release Date and Format

The movie is scheduled to release globally on December 21, 2029, including IMAX 3D and premium large formats. However, it was previously planned for 2026 but delayed to allow time for groundbreaking visual effects and motion-capture technology.
Similar to the last movies, the runtime is expected to be close to 3 hours. Hence, it will maintain consistency with all previous movies of the franchise.
