Israel claimed that it had killed “Ali Shadmani,” who was the wartime chief of Iran. However, it is yet to be confirmed from Iran’s side.
Reports suggest that Ali Shadmani, who is the newly appointed wartime chief of staff in Iran, has been killed in a big development amid growing tension in the Middle East. The report comes from the Israeli sources that claim that Shadmani was targeted in the latest operation just after his predecessor was eliminated.
As of now, Iran has not confirmed the news yet. The alleged killing of Ali Shadmani, however, marks a significant moment in the hidden conflict between Iran and Israel. It is expected that both nations are going to confront each other now. In this post, we will talk about all the important updates related to Ali Shadmani’s killing.
Who Was Ali Shadmani?
According to the IDF, he was the top military commander in regime of the Iran and wartime chief of Iran. IDF also stated that Shadmani was the closest figure to Ali Khamenei (Iranian Supreme Leader). In addition, Shadmani was also the commander of the Iranian Armed Forces and had the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. (IRGC) plus the Iranian army under his arm.
He was a veteran of the Iran-Iraq war and popular for his strategic mind. In addition, he played key roles in the planning and execution of many operations. His promotion to Iran’s wartime chief has highlighted his increasing influence under Iran’s military operation.
Israeli Sources Claim Responsibility
The Israeli security establishment claimed that it was behind the alleged killing of Khatam Al-Aniya Headquarters’ commander, Maj. Gen Ali Shadmani. The operation is seen follow-up to the killing of his predecessor, “Ghulam Ali Rashid”, who was eliminated a few days ago in an Israeli Airstrike this Friday.
As of now, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have not officially revealed the operation details. Israeli media sources mentioned a senior official claiming that the removal of Shadmani is a part of a broader effort to disrupt Iran’s war system.
Iran Yet to Confirm
Although Israel is claiming that it has killed Ali Shadmani, there has been no official confirmation from Tehran or Iran about his death. Iranian State Media is silent on the matter. In addition, there is no official statement issued by the IRGC or the government of Iran.
It is expected that the silence is a part of Iran’s typical approach to managing high-level military assassinations. In addition, it is particularly normal when state credibility or domestic unrest might be at higher risk.
Israel-Iran conflict escalates
Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, which saw over 200 aircraft and drones strike over 100 Iranian targets, including a command centre in Tehran, nuclear facilities, military bases, etc. IRGC commander Hossein Salami and nuclear scientist Fereydoon Abbasi were among those killed in the opening waves. Following it, many flights in the UAE also got affected
Iran responded to Israel with Operation True Promise 3 by launching more than a hundred Shahed drones and ballistic missiles in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Rehovot. Many of them were intercepted by Israeli Iron Dome and Arrow Defence systems. Still, some of them hit their target that causing local casualties and broader damage.
A missile killed 9 people, including children, and injured around 200 in Bat Yam. In addition, the missiles directly hit the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot that damages the research facilities. Moreover, Israel further fights back with more strike that claims to destroy one-third of the missile stockpile.
Now, Israel’s big claim about the Ali Shadmani’s removal has already developed tension around the world because it shows no sign of de-escalation. However, we should wait for an official statement from Iran.
