The future of urban mobility took flight in Dubai as Joby Aviation electric air taxi made a historic debut at the Dubai Airshow 2025. 4 Passengers, 200 mph Speed — Air Taxi Travel Set to Revolutionise UAE Commutes

Joby eVOL is created for speed, comfort, and efficiency. Below are the key specs of this aircraft:

• Capacity: 1 pilot + 4 passengers
• Top Speed: Up to 200 mph
• Noise Level: Extremely low
• Emissions: Zero during operation

This means that journeys across the UAE will shrink dramatically. A typical 45-minute drive from DXB Airport to Palm Jumeirah could be reduced to just 10 to 12 minutes by air taxi.  Thus, such speed, combined with near-silent operation, positions the service as a premium, time-saving travel option for residents, tourists and business professionals.

Dubai’s Visionary Partnerships Paving the Way

Joby Aviation credits the strong institutional support of Dubai for making the project a reality. The company work closely with the following government entities:

• RTA (Roads and Transport Authority)
• GCAA (General Civil Aviation Authority)
• DCAA (Dubai Civil Aviation Authority)

Exclusive Six-Year Operating Rights & First Crewed eVTOL Flight

Joby has secured exclusive operating rights for 6 years from the Dubai RTA. Hence, it has empowered the emirate as the first city globally to large-scale air taxi deployment. Recently, the RTA has also confirmed the first crewed eVTOL flight between two distinct Dubai locations — from a testing site in Margham to Al Maktoum International Airport. 

The successful point-to-point testing confirms the readiness for real-world operations of the system. Moreover, Joby Aviation Electric Air Taxi is expected to launch in 2026. Hence, this move has solidified the position of the emirate at the forefront of next-generation mobility.
