Last Solar Eclipse of 2025: Date, Time, Visibility, and How to Watch from UAE

The final solar eclipse of 2025 is set to occur on Sunday, September 21, 2025, i.e., today. Hence, it will offer a breathtaking celestial event for skywatchers around the world. Unfortunately, it will not be directly visible to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Still, astronomy lovers can watch it through the live streams in the Emirates.

What is a Solar Eclipse?

It takes place when the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, which temporarily blocks the sunlight. However, this time, this event will be a partial solar eclipse. So, it means that the moon will only cover part of the Sun. However, up to 85 percent of the Sun will be obscured in some regions.

Solar Eclipse of 2025: Timing

The Solar eclipse will begin at 9:29 PM (UAE time) on September 21 in the UAE. However, it could peak at 11:41 PM and will be concluded around 1:53 AM on September 22. Below is the list of locations where it would be visible:

  • Australia – from 6:13 AM to 7:36 AM (local time)
  • New Zealand – from 5:41 AM to 8:36 AM (local time)
  • Antarctica – from 4:49 AM to 6:53 PM (local time)
  • Pacific and Atlantic Oceans – during various windows

Unfortunately, it will not be visible in the Middle East, India, and some European nations due to timing and daylight conditions.

Why This Eclipse is Special

The event is important as the second and the last Solar Eclipse of 2025, after earlier lunar and solar eclipses. Interestingly, it coincides with the autumnal equinox on the 22nd of September 2025, i.e, tomorrow. It is the day when the earth experiences nearly equal hours of daylight and night.

How to Watch Safely

Experts strongly suggest using certified solar eclipse glasses to protect your eyes. Remember, ordinary sunglasses are not safe because they cannot filter the harmful rays from the sun. However, astronomy clubs and global space portals will offer online live streams of the event for the UAE residents.

What’s Next in the Sky?

The next solar eclipse is going to happen on February 17, 2026. However, it will be an annual eclipse visible in Antarctica and partially across Africa and South America. After that, the next solar eclipse will take place in August 2026, which will be a total solar eclipse.
