Dubai & Sharjah Enforce New Delivery Motorcycle And Heavy Vehicle Traffic Rules From Today

Motorists in Dubai and Sharjah are going to see the rollout of the stricter New Delivery Motorcycle and Heavy Vehicle Traffic Rules From Today, the 1st of November 2025. However, the move comes in response to a surge in road accidents involving delivery riders due to rising e-commerce and food delivery activity in the UAE.

The new UAE traffic rules aim to boost road safety, improve traffic flow, and curb reckless rider behaviour. In addition, it ensures safer mobility for all commuters on the big highways and urban corridors in the UAE. 

Dubai RTA Bans Delivery Riders From Fast Lanes

New Delivery Motorcycle and Heavy Vehicle Traffic Rules

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with Dubai Police, has officially announced Dubai delivery rider lane ban from using specific high-speed lanes in Dubai. Below are the Lane Rules for Motorcycles in Dubai:

Besides these, the Dubai RTA has also installed new road signs across the city to mark motorcycle-restricted lanes. However, the authority has also introduced penalties for violating these regulations. The following is the list of RTA new fines for delivery riders.

On top of these fines, repeat violators may also lose their delivery permit. So, it reinforces the goal of Dubai to achieve the highest traffic standards under its 5-year safety strategy. 

Sharjah: Dedicated Lanes for Bikes & Heavy Vehicles

On the other hand, Sharjah has also introduced a new lane management system to assign dedicated lanes for buses, heavy vehicles, and motorcycles on key arterial roads. The following table has the details related to Sharjah motorcycle lane rules:

If you are a truck or bus driver, you are required to drive only in the far-right lane. It is important to note that the system is going to be reinforced through HD cameras, smart radars, and 24/7 patrol monitoring throughout the emirate. Similar to Dubai, Sharjah has also introduced penalties for violators of the new rules:
