Only two Dubai Public Holidays 2025: Here’s When to Expect Them

UAE residents, including those in Dubai, have only two Dubai public holidays before the end of 2025. Moreover, the next one is expected to fall as early as the following month on the birthday of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

As per the astronomical calculations by Egypt’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), the event is expected on Thursday, September 4, 2025. However, the official date is going to be confirmed closer to the time. Moreover, the UAE Cabinet might shift to Friday, which could give a long weekend.

Remaining Dubai Public Holidays in 2025

As we mentioned before, there are only two public holidays remaining in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). So, you can see the remaining holidays mentioned below:

  1. Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday – One Day Off
  • Expected Date: Thursday, September 4, 2025

The holiday is observed on the 12th of Rabi Al Awwal in the Islamic calendar. However, the exact date will be based on the official moon-sighting. If Rabi Al Awwal begins on a Sunday night, the holiday is expected to fall in early September.

  1. UAE National Day – Two Days Off
  • Confirmed Dates: Tuesday, December 2, 2025 and Wednesday, December 3, 2025

People also know the event as the Eid Al Etihad. However, these midweek breaks could be extended depending on how Commemoration Day is scheduled. Although this event is celebrated officially on November 30, but it can shift to December 1, 2025.

If this day aligns well, you may enjoy a four-day weekend from the 1st of December to the 4th of December 2025. Notably, there is also a possibility of the five-day holidays on the UAE National Day.

How Dubai Public Holidays Are Decided

Dubai observes 12 annual public holidays for the public and private sectors under the UAE Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024. However, the following rules are used for these breaks:

  1. Islamic holidays are based on the Hijri calendar and confirmed by moon-sighting.
  2. Gregorian calendar holidays such as National Day follow fixed dates.
  3. The Cabinet can move non-Eid holidays to the start or end of the workweek to create longer weekends.
  4. Local governments may also declare additional holidays for special occasions.

As of now, there are only two holidays left for this year. So, Dubai residents can plan ahead for possible long weekends in September or December. However, it could be perfect for a staycation, travel, or festive celebration.
