Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday UAE Holiday 2025: Three-Day Weekend on September 5

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has confirmed that Friday, 5th of September, 2025 (12th Rabi Al Awwal) is going to be a public holiday for federal government employees to mark the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday UAE holiday 2025. 

The official announcement means that federal employees are going to enjoy a three-day weekend, as the holiday matches the regular Saturday and Sunday weekend. However, the prophet’s birthday is one of the most significant occasions in the Islamic calendar. In addition, it is observed with spiritual gatherings, cultural traditions, and moments of reflection across the Muslim world.

Astronomical Confirmation of the Date for Prophet Muhammad’s birthday UAE holiday 2025

The International Astronomy Center in the UAE confirmed that the crescent of Rabi Al Awwal was not seen on 23, August 2025, Saturday. However, many countries, like Palestine, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Tunisia began the Islamic month on Sunday, August 24. 

Meanwhile, the UAE, Oman, Algeria, Mauritania, Libya, and Morocco began the new Islamic month on the 25th of July 2025. Similarly, Asian countries, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Iran,  Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore initiate the new month on the same date.

Besides this religious holiday, residents in the UAE can look forward to the UAE National Day (Eid Al Etihad) for the upcoming holiday. Notably, it will fall on a Tuesday and Wednesday, i.e, December 2 and 3. However, it will probably make a mid-week break for both citizens and residents. 

Additionally, Commemoration Day will be officially observed on Sunday, November 30, which is typically marked on December 1. However, this could offer a four-day weekend from 1 to 4 December 2025.
