Rare Celestial Spectacle: Corn Moon and Blood Moon Eclipse to Dazzle UAE Skies on September 7

Stargazers across the UAE are in for the rare heavenly treat this week as the Corn Moon coincides with the blood moon eclipse. So, it would convert the sky into a breathtaking display.

Moreover, the moon will appear in its complete glory while slipping under the shadow of our beloved planet, “Earth,” on the 7th of September 2025. Hence, it will transform into convert into a dynamic blood moon that will be visible across all seven emirates.

Corn Moon and the blood moon Eclipse with Saturn: A Celestial Alignment

The night sky has already offered a striking sight because Saturn brightens ahead of its opposition on September 21, this week. Moreover, each evening, the moon has been coming closer to the ringed planet to create a spectacular pairing. In addition, it will appear close to Saturn as the corn moon reaches fullness and undergoes a total eclipse on September 7-8. Hence, it will form a stunning alignment in the southeast sky after sunset.

You can spot Saturn, which resembles a bright star, in the sky. However, observers with telescopes or binoculars may also see Neptune, which reaches opposition just two days later,  on 23 September.

The Corn Moon: A Symbol of Harvest

Traditionally named in North America, the corn moon is the time of corn harvesting. So, it offers farmers an extended light for their work. Moreover, the corn moon stands as the signature full moon of September that radiates golden brilliance. However, it is completely opposite to the Harvest Moon, which happen near the autumn equinox (October 7 this year).

Blood Moon Eclipse Over the UAE

The UAE will focus on the total lunar eclipse as Earth aligns perfectly between the Earth and the Sun. Thus, the moonlight will turn reddish-copper, as its atmosphere filters the sun’s light.

The eclipse will last over five hours, with a deep red totality phase that could stretch until 82 minutes. However, it will be best viewed from open areas with clear eastern horizons. Moreover, experts shared that it will begin around 10:30 pm GST. So, it is perfect for a late-evening event for families and astronomy lovers.

Astromers lovers won’t have to wait long for another celestial wonder because a partial solar eclipse will be visible across New Zealand, Antarctica, and the South Pacific. As of now, UAE residents should prepare themselves to witness the Corn Moon, Blood Moon, and Saturn alignment.
