Ras Al Khaimah Launches First Flying Vehicle Test Flight, Strengthening UAE’s Smart Mobility Vision

Ras Al Khaimah has officially joined Abu Dhabi and Dubai in testing flying vehicles. Hence, it marks a new era of advanced and sustainable transportation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Notably, the Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of this emirate, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, saw the successful first test flight of an electric flying vehicle that the Chinese tech company XPENG AEROHT develops.

The trial was conducted at Al Jazirah Aviation Club. Moreover, it highlighted the growing role of Ras Al Khaimah in shaping the future of smart urban mobility. However, Zhang Yiming, China’s Ambassador to the UAE, along with several sheikhs and senior officials are some of those people who attended this event.

Sheikh Saud: A Step Toward a Smarter, Greener Future

Sheikh Saud highlighted that the test flight shows the dedication of the UAE and Ras Al Khaimah to innovation and sustainability. He said, “In Ras Al Khaimah, we seek the future with ambition, transforming ideas into tangible milestones that add to developing a modern and sustainable nature”.

He further added that this milestone is more than only a technical achievement because it is a message of progress and responsibilities, which reiterates the role of the emirate to create cleaner systems for future generations.

Strategic MoU with XPENG AEROHT for flying vehicle

As a part of the event, the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with XPENG AEROHT. Moreover, the partnership is going to focus on several applications, like tourism, entertainment, rescue operations, and eco-friendly transport solutions.

Director General of the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority, Eng. Ismail Hassan Al Bloushi and Chao Deli, CEO of XPENG AEROHT, have an agreement to strengthen and grow the transportation sector of the emirate.

UAE as a Global Hub for Future Mobility

This achievement of Ras Al Khaimah comes after the flying taxi test of Dubai with Joby Aviation in June and the successful test of Abu Dhabi at Al Bateen Executive Airport in July. Now, the UAE is rapidly strengthening its status as the global leader in urban air mobility because Archer Aviation is planning to launch its flying taxi in early 2026.

The landmark trial shows that Ras Al Khaima is keeping pace with innovation and actively leading in sustainable transportation solutions. So, it is shaping the vision of the UAE for a diversified and growing economy.
