The rising all-rounder of Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain, has revealed that his favorite wicket yet in international cricket so far is that of the star batter of India, “Virat Kohli,” whom he dismissed during the Champions Trophy 2025.
Moreover, Rishad produced one of his most memorable spells by dismissing Kohli for 22 off 38 deliveries. Despite eventual six-wicket loss of Bangladesh to India, the performance of the younger spinner stood out. Hence, it earned him praise from fans and cricket attempts.
On the other hand, Kohli attempts a late cut from deep in the crease off a full delivery, edges the ball straight to Soumya Sarkar at slip. However, Sarkar completed a comfortable catch. Yet, Rishad also claimed the wicket of Axar Patel to finish the impressive bowling figures of 10-0-38-2. However, it is the best among the Bangladeshi bowlers on that day.
Rishab said, “I think my favorite wicket in the Champion Trophy was Virat Kohli. It was a completely new experience for me. I saw many comments and messages when I came home and checked my phone – It was overwhelming but heartwarming.”

Now, Rishad is all set to become the first Bangladeshi cricketer in the Big Bash League since Shakib Al Hasan’s 2014–15 stint with the Melbourne Renegades. However, the 22-year-old spinner is going to represent the Hobart Hurricanes, which is a major milestone in his career.
The Hurricanes had chosen him in the previous season. However, he was unable to participate due to the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) decision to withhold his No Objection Certificate (NOC). Now, Rishad has received the green light from the national board. So, he is excited to make his mark on one of the most competitive T20 stages in the world.
He said. “I am truly happy and excited for the Big Bash. It is one of the biggest leagues in the world, which makes it very important for me. That is why I decided to participate this year. As a Bangladeshi, I always try to represent my country to the best of my ability, and I will give 10 per cent in Hobart.”
Hurricanes’ Title Defense Begins in December
The Hobart Hurricanes are the defending champions of the Big Bash League. Now, they will start their campaign on the 16th of December against the Sydney Thunder at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. However, the team grabbed the title last season due to Mitchell Owen’s match-winning century in the final.
Now, the inclusion of Rishad Hossain adds a new dimension to the bowling attack of the Hurricanes, especially on the spin-friendly Australian tracks that often help the wrist spinner. Now, his ability to extract turn and maintain pressures in the Middle overs has already made him an important figure in the white-ball setup of Bangladesh.
