RTA Unveils Six Major Dubai Infrastructure Projects to Boost Traffic Flow and Urban Connectivity

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced six new Dubai infrastructure projects and traffic improvement projects rolling out this October. However, it marks another milestone in the journey of Dubai towards becoming one of the most connected and sustainable cities. In addition, the new developments aim to ease traffic congestion, enhance road efficiency, and improve urban mobility in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

Key Dubai Infrastructure Projects Enhancing Connectivity Across the Emirate

The new link connecting Al Kifaf Development to the Zabeel Tunnel stands out as a big upgrade. Moreover, the expansion doubles the tunnel from one lane to two. Hence, it will significantly reduce congestion around Sheikh Zayed Road and the 2nd of December Interchange. So, motorists who are heading from Al Kifaf toward Zabeel can now experience smoother traffic flow and reduced travel times.

Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street has been expanded from two lanes to three in the direction of Al Khawaneej in another important enhancement. Moreover, the move has already improved entry and exit points for motorists. Hence, it has reduced bottlenecks and facilitated better access for residents in the area.

New Bridge to Mall of the Emirates Enhances Access

RTA has also opened the new  300-metre bridge linking Sheikh Zayed Road directly to the Mall of the Emirates to add to Dubai’s network of smart mobility projects. However, the bridge has a capacity of 900 vehicles per hour. Hence, it will provide you with direct access for traffic coming from Abu Dhabi and Jebel Al. Moreover, it will ease congestion at key intersections near the popular shopping destinations.

The bridge is a part of a wider mobility upgrade around the Mall of the Emirates, including expanded access roads, improved intersections, and enhanced pedestrian and cycling paths. Hence, it will ensure safer and more efficient movement for vehicles and visitors.

Upcoming Developments Before the End of October

The RTA has also confirmed that three extra projects are underway and scheduled for completion by 31 October 2025. However, the following are the details about these projects:

  • New truck rest areas along Emirates Road near Hind City are to improve logistics movement and driver safety.
  • A dedicated cycling track in Al Jaddaf, promoting eco-friendly transportation and supporting Dubai’s sustainability goals.
  • A new service road lane on Sheikh Zayed Road towards Al Badaa Street, designed to reduce congestion and streamline local access routes.

These projects highlight the ongoing commitment of the RTA to create a smarter, safer, and more sustainable transport system for the growing population of Dubai.

Sustainability and Quality of Life at the Core

As per the RTA, the infrastructure push is not only about expanding roads. However, it is also about boosting the overall quality of life for residents. In addition, the authority said, “Developing roads goes beyond easing congestion. It saves time for road users and improves traffic efficiency. It also strengthens the position of Dubai among the top cities of the world for connectivity and quality of life”.

These campaigns aim to balance growth and sustainability by aligning with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. Hence, it makes the transport network of Dubai more resilient, green, and future-ready.

Final words

The six big RTA infrastructures are either completed or near the completion. So, Dubai continues to boosts its vision for seamless, sustainable, and connected urban future. Plus, these projects includes new bridges, tunnel expansion, cycle tracks, and service roads. Plus, these project affirm the reputation of the city as a global leader in smart mobility and urban innovation.
