Russian Propagandist and Filmmaker Tigran Keosayan Dies After Eight Months in Coma

After eight months in a coma, Russian-Armenian filmmaker, television host, and known propagandist Tigran Keosayan has passed away. Moreover, his wife, Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of RT and Rossiya Segodnya, confirmed his death through a heartfelt post on her Telegram channel. 

Simonyon wrote, “This night Tigran went to the creator. Thank you to everyone who prayed for him. Please don’t call me or the family right now”.

Cause of Death and Health Struggles

Keosayan suffered clinical death due to a severe heart complication earlier this year. Despite the medical effort, his health conditions remained critical. Ultimately, it leaves him in a prolonged coma before his passing.

 Tigran Keosayan was a popular filmmaker and TV host. Internationally, he gained notoriety for his role as a popular Russian propagandist. Moreover, his programs and public appearances often conducted anti-Ukrainian, sexist, racist, and chauvinist themes, as well as narratives justifying Russia’s military aggression. Hence, he faced the following consequences for these activities:

  • Sanctioned by the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
  • Barred from entering Kazakhstan over controversial language remarks.
  • Listed in Ukraine’s Myrotvorets database for spreading disinformation.

Simonyan herself also faces charges in Ukraine, including violating territorial integrity and disseminating Kremlin-backed narratives.
