Syrian Actress and Singer Samar Abdel Aziz Passes Away at 52 After Cancer Struggle

Syrian painter Samar Abdel Aziz died at the age of 52 in Damascus due to a lengthy and hard-fought struggle against cancer. Although she managed to finish the early stages of the cancer treatment course in 2023, she developed worsening conditions as a result of acute hepatic inflammation from a severely weakened immune system.
Samar initially gained popularity as a singer, winning hearts with her soothing voice and expressive personality. Some of her most popular songs are:

Country Mourns a Cultural Icon
Her passing was announced by the Syrian Artists’ Syndicate, who organized her funeral too. The prayer ceremony took place at Lala Basha Mosque, and she was buried at Najha Cemetery in the countryside of Damascus.
