UAE Tops Global Knowledge Index 2025 as Sheikha Latifa Inaugurates 10th Knowledge Summit

The UAE’s commitment to knowledge-driven growth took centre stage on Wednesday as Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, inaugurated the 10th Knowledge Summit at the Dubai World Trade Centre. 

However, this milestone event shows a decade of global dialogue focused on sustainable development through knowledge exchange, which is a central pillar of the future vision of the country. Moreover, this achievement comes after a big national achievement, as the UAE ranks first in the Arab world on the Global Knowledge Index 2025. Hence, it has reaffirmed the leadership of the country in building a competitive and knowledge-based economy. 

Knowledge Summit 2025: A Decade of Global Impact

The event is being held under the theme ‘‘Knowledge Markets: Developing Sustainable Communities.” Moreover, the two-day summit is bringing global experts, policymakers, academics, and innovators together. In addition, it has become one of the most influential platforms for discussing development challenges, knowledge economies, and the future of innovation over the past ten years. 

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is organising this event.  Moreover, the summit features panel discussions, workshops, and knowledge dialogue on the following issues:

• Sustainable development and innovation
• Knowledge markets and global competitiveness
• Technology’s role in economic transformation
• Youth empowerment and future skills

Sheikha Latifa’s Vision: Knowledge as the Foundation of the Nation

Sheikh Latifa highlighted the long-term commitment of the UAE to shaping a knowledge-driven society in her opening address. Moreover, she told the delegates, “Knowledge is a foundation upon which nations are built, and the engine that shapes their future.” Moreover, she highlighted that the Knowledge Summit shows the dedication of Dubai to create future-ready communities that can adapt to rapid global changes.

She added, “Investing in knowledge is an investment in people-in their creativity, potential, and ability to shape opportunity.” Hence, her remark highlighted the ongoing effort of the country to empower youth with future skills, strengthen the knowledge economy, and enhance global competitiveness. In short, the nation is aiming to build an educational generation through this summit. 

UAE’s Achievement on the Global Knowledge Index 2025

Coinciding with the opening day of the Knowledge Summit, the first-place ranking of the UAE in the Arab World on the Global Knowledge Index 2025 supports its leadership as a regional hub for innovation and learning. Moreover, the index evaluates countries across the following pillars: 

• Education and technical skills
• Research and development
• ICT infrastructure
• Labour market performance
• Economic and institutional environment

The UAE continues to rank among the top performers due to government-led initiatives that prioritise digital transformation, advanced education, cultural development, and global knowledge partnerships.

Strengthening International Collaboration

Sheikh Latifa also met with many ministers, policymakers, and senior officials to explore new avenues of cooperation on the sidelines of the event. However, discussions were focused on the knowledge exchange as a driver of detailed development. Hence, it highlights the importance of cross-sector collaboration between governments, institutions, and private organisations.

Participants highlighted that developing sustainable knowledge markets need coordinated efforts across education, economy, culture, and technology sectors. However, it is a strategy the UAE has consistently pursued.
