Kelley Mack passed away on August 2 in Cincinnati after a courageous battle with glioma of the central nervous system at 33 years old. However, she made her name as Addy in AMC’s The Walking Dead Season 9.
The portrayal of Addy left a lasting mark on fans in five episodes from 2018 to 2019. Moreover, her character’s arc culminated in the gripping Season 9 Finale, where Addy and others fell victim to the Whisperers.
A Multifaceted Career in Film, TV, and Voice Acting
Besides The Walking Dead, Kelley Mack also made her name in appearances in 9-1-1, Chicago Med, Schooled, and many miniseries. Moreover, Broadcast Signal Intrusion (2021), Delicate Arch (2024), and the soon-to-be-released Universal (2025) are films in which Kelley got featured and emerged as an executive producer.
Beyond her screen presence, she’s gained fans through voice acting, playing Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and in a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq commercial. In addition, Mack appeared in national commercials, like Dr Pepper, Ross Stores, Budweiser, Dairy Queen, Eli Lilly, etc.
Kelley Mack’s Early Life and Passion for Storytelling
Kelley Mack was born in Cincinnati on the 10th of July 1992. Moreover, she grew up in several US states. Notably, her passion for acting began in childhood after receiving a mini video camera as a birthday gift.
In addition, she soon began appearing in commercials and received the Tisch School of the Arts Acting Award for her debut role as Chloe in The Elephant Garden (2008), which also earned the Student Visionary Award at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Kelley graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 2010. Later, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Cinematography from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film in 2014.
Life Beyond the Screen
Besides the entertainment industry, Mack has won many achievements in other fields, too. She was an accomplished college tennis player. Moreover, she enjoyed hiking, pickleball, biking, piano, and traveling. On top of that, Mack also had a love for storytelling with her mother. Together, they created scripts, like On the Black, inspired by her grandparents’ college days.
Tributes and Legacy
Kelley Mack left her parents, Kristen and Lindsay; sister Kathryn; brother Parker; grandparents Lois and Larry; and her partner, Logan behind. Moreover, they scheduled a public remembrance at the Glendale Lyceum in Glendale, Ohio. A similar event is scheduled in Los Angeles.
Her family said, “Her vibrant spirit, creative passion, and dedication to storytelling have left an unforgettable mark on those who knew her and the audiences she captivated.”
