Tim David Stuns India With Record-Breaking Knock And 129m Six in Hobart T20I Clash

Australia’s dynamic batter Tim David stole the spotlight in the 3rd T20I against India at Bellerive Oval, Hobart. Moreover, he delivered one of the most dominant knocks of the year. After being sent to bat first, Australia found themselves struggling at 14/2. However, the fearless power-hitting of David turned the match on its side, as he smashed a sensational 74 off just 38 balls to steer Australia to a competitive total. 

The strong cricket-loving community is closely following the T20I series of India vs Australia cricketing battle. Now, they witnessed yet another thrilling showdown. However, the brute force of David led the force, who is a player popular for his franchise cricket stint. 

129-Meter Six — One of the Biggest in World Cricket This Year

The highlight of Tim’s innings came in the sixth over when he danced down the track to Axar Patel and launched the ball 129 metres into the Hobart night sky. However, the ball also hit the stadium roof, which sent fans into disbelief. 

The towering strike is already being hailed as one of the longest sixes of the year throughout the world. Hence, it displays the raw strength and clean ball-striking ability of David. Even he appeared shocked at the incredible distance, smiling as the crowd erupted.

David immediately counterattacks, walking in after early wickets of Travis Head and Josh Inglis. He built an important partnership with Mitchell Marsh of a 59-run stand to stabilise the innings of Australia. 

Later, he smashed 45 off 27 balls with Marcus Stoinis to push India on the back foot.  During his innings, David hammered 8 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 194.74 before he fell on the last ball of the 13th over while aiming for another big hit.

Record Alert: Fastest to 1,000 T20I Runs

Tim David has also created history by becoming the fastest player to reach 1,000 T20I runs. However, he achieved this milestone in just 569 deliveries. Moreover, he has also surpassed the milestone of Suryakumar Yadav. Hence, he now holds the following records:

  • Scored 1,582 runs from 66 T20Is
  • Hit 100+ sixes in T20Is
  • Averaged 36.79 with a strike rate of 169.01
  • Recorded 10 fifty-plus scores (including one ton)

On top of that, David now has 1,024 runs in 52 matches at a strike rate of 175.35 for Australia alone. Hence, he reinforces his status as one of the most dangerous T20 finishers in the world.

2025 has been a stellar year for David so far, as he has smashed many records this year. Below are the highlights of this emerging player for this year:

  • 363 T20I runs at 60.50 average
  • Strike rate 201.66
  • Maiden T20I hundred (102* vs West Indies)
  • Most sixes by an Australian in a year — 35

His consistency has become a key weapon for Australia as they head into the global tournament. 

India’s Bowling Effort

Despite the blitz of David, India’s bowlers also had their moments. Arshdeep Singh seals three wickets, followed by Varun Chakravarthy, who picked two and Shivam Dube has one. They restricted Australia to 186/6.
